Share the Day!

I think that it is really important to remember that the wedding is not only for the bride and groom, but also your family and friends. So don't worry if your mom wants different flowers, or the bridesmaids dresses are not exactly what you had in mind. It is a day to SHARE and an exercise in sharing. After all, you will share your spouse with all your family and friends for the rest of your life. At the end of the day, you are married to the most incredible person you could imagine, designed just for you!

Cheers~

I think this is very important, having attended my cousin's wedding several weeks ago and seeing how some of the older folks present didn't enjoy the reception as much after the music shifted from mellow but fun music to hip hop. Granted, some had enough alcohol in them that it wouldn't have mattered if they played the Barney theme song, but others became annoyed after a while of listening to a constant heavy beat. Yes, the reception should be fun for you and your friends, but don't forget the grandparents!

I agree with LIz. For our wedding I sent out a questionnaire asking for everyone's favorite dance songs. I then made several mixes by genre - swing, oldies, 80s etc. Every genre was about 30 minutes so no one felt left out for long. My 86 year old grandparents did as much dancing as my friends (but to different "sets").
